Infertility in Canadian Media/Government

Thanks to Shlomit, I just found (and read!) this article in the May 2007 issue of Chatelaine (a Canadian magazine) entitled, "In vitro we trust."

Additionally, proposals that have been tabled and are currently under consideration by Ontario's Ministry of Health and Long Term Care discuss the possibility of reintroducing IVF insurance coverage for Ontario couples who are suffering from specific types of male factor infertility. You can read the summary, or, from the same page, download the longer versions and/or contact the Ministry if you have questions.

The gingerale is on the house--(1) because you're smack in the middle of the wait and (2) because you're feeling a bit queasy and I wouldn't want to make you reach into your pocket while you're feeling like crap :-) I hope the queasiness is a sign of good things to come.

Happy birthday to your husband too.

Now I have to go read this article.

Thanks for the link - I will be checking it out. We deal require ICSI due to low sperm counts. Do you know when this may be implemented if it was decided on?

Hey Gil,
Thanks for the shout-out and all the good info!
I'm all for ANY kind of infertility coverage by our government...although given my age I figure I'll be exempt...not that that'll stop me from lobbying, signing petitions, writing letters, anything!

hope your nausea has packed up and left!
peace

It's funny, I've been bitchng about this for years to a certain friend with the initials GS, but my idea is that we should all be covered, 100%. Just because there are lots of reasons, like endo, or scarred tubes (they don't work either, it's not just blocked tubes)

Did you see the article about egg freezing in the Globe & Mail today?
